Zhongshan

Zhongshan is a city in Guangdong Province just north of Zhuhai. Zhongshan is most famous as the birthplace of Chinese national hero Sun Yat-Sen. It's now something of a manufacturing center, like the rest of the Pearl River Delta, but it's quieter than the other cities in the area and still has lots of farmland and small towns.

It falls under the administration of Jiangmen perfecture and is known for its watchtower dwellings built by overseas Chinese in a mixure of western and eastern style. Kaiping city is located on the Tanjiang river, 140 kilometres away from Guangzhou, on the eastern edge of the county, which is shaped like a big question mark.

Kaiping city centre is located on the Tanjiang River, 140 kilometres (87 mi) away from Guangzhou, on the edge of the county Kaiping west of the Pearl River Delta. Kaiping consists of broken terrain, mostly either rocky or swampy, with only a third of the land arable. The county is shaped like a giant question mark (see map, in pink) and includes rural areas as well as three port cities: Changsha, Xinchang, and Dihai.
