It lies just north of Trinidad and Tobago, and southwest of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It is famous for spices and is known as the "Spice Isle", being a major source of nutmeg, cloves, ginger, cinnamon, vanilla and cocoa.

On our first evening at the Grenada Love Shack, we heard sharp repetitive “Qui (kee)” calls. The calls became relatively louder, but we were dead tired to investigate. We soon drifted into sleep.
